So who are Fishing-in-Wessex ?

and what are they about ?

I  originally set up FishinginWessex.com in March 2001 as a guide to fishing in the South of England focusing on Thomas Hardy’s Wessex area. The site is as a fishing enthusiasts site and  is PRO-fishing.  I hope that you find the site interesting and informative.

I originally had the site designed back then in NetFusion Objects, and maitained it in a flat file way.   I then started to go the database way, when I tried out a Mambo based website.  Then in around 2003 I moved to a perl based web app, called WebGUI.  Despite being powerful, this just does not suit this site, and is getting what I would term cumbersome to administer, so now in March 2011 I have ported most of the content to a WordPress powered site.

If you’ve got any news or information or articles that are about fishing in this area please let me know and I’ll arrange for it to be posted on this site.  The more sources of info that are sent in then the better this site will be for local anglers.

My Aim is to provide you with a single source for places to fish within the local area.
There is absolutely no charge for using my site.

About me..

I am a member of Ringwood and District Angling Assc and fish reguarly on the local rivers and lakes (usually in the better weather) and tended to Sea Fish more often in the winter months.  However I have not been Sea Fishing now since around 2004.

I will update my fishing experiences good or bad in my diary pages, which I aim resume this year in 2011.  Although not updated since 2006 I have still been fishing the local area during this time, just not added to the website.
