I hope that visitors might be interested to know about a new documentary on DVD, called 'Four Seasons on the Hampshire Avon'.
Three years in the making, it is a gentle and beautiful account of the fishing and wildlife of the river throughout the course of a year, filmed by the reel-maker Paul Witcher.
The DVD features John Searl amongst others, catching a 25lb pike, an 11lb barbel and 2lb roach, as well as brown trout, chub and dace. The plight of the salmon is covered, along with some of the rarer wildlife, such as water voles, brown hare and barn owl.
Set to music by Sir Edward Elgar, it is very much the story of the river, from source to sea.
