Will this be one of our last chances to get bank-side after work in 2006; the nights are drawing in rapidly. If so seeing a kingfisher as I set up my rods was a bonus. I chose the last swim on the island bank and effectively the carp rod was fishing into the same swim as last time, but with an easier cast. The float rod was alongside an overhanging tree in the left-hand margin. We had the lake to ourselves and it was so much cooler than last month’s trip to Woodlands. One stonking bite on the carp rod produced a fish just shy of 6lb and some small rudd came to flake on the float line. This time I was laying on with the bulk shot a good way down in the hope of a tench, but alas despite again seeing a plethora of tench bubbles no sign of a tinca for me despite trying, corn, meat, chick peas and flake. I missed a decent bite on the carp rod later on, but Mickey Minnow had a relatively quiet night and the Ringwood in the Albion was "not good", although it was amusing to see the inept cheating that was rife at the pub quiz.

Those nights are certainly closing in now, find it's getting dark about 8pm now.  On the plus side it is still warm, and with my miners lamp hat can still unhook the fish I don't catch after dark!

Inept cheating in a pub quiz...just thinking about that sentence made me smile.
