Muscliffe Free stretch- Barbel?

I fished this stretch hard since christmas, averaging 3 short evening sessions a week, and had some cracking chub sport, but i failed to even hook in 2 any Barbel.

I have not seen this stretch in summer, but can someone tell me what sort of summer form it has for Barbel?  Is there any particular swims that are better then others?  And when the water is low (i.e normal summer conditions) is there much flow.

I have fished throop for years but now want a different challange, but i would like to know if there is a big enough head of barbel in the free stretch to make it worth specifically targeting them.  If so, what size do they run to?

So many questions i know, but if you don't ask, you don't get i suppose.

Many thanks, and i would apreciate all the help and advice that comes my way.

 Thanks again,

DannyT

Hi Danny I've not fished the free stretch this year. I have though in the past and have had a barbel of 10lb from it (around 3 yrs ago). I did catch a 11lb barbel this year at bounds farm, an RDAA water on the north bank between throop beat 1 and the free stretch. This is fairly nearby (I've caught doubles there in the past on summer evenings). I heard someone caught a double barbel on the free stretch this summer. I would suggest that they are not as common here as in the throop stretch. I have not heard of them being much bigger from here. The water does flow reasonably on the stretch in the summer, obviously in the shallower parts faster than the deeper bits.
