News Year’s Eve: out and back to the club lake before anyone else woke. Had hoped for perch, but no such luck (the landlord of the Amberwood agrees this venue has perch potential), but in a howling gale it wasn’t happening so I end the year on a blank. Had one bite on the quiver rod whilst I was setting up the float rod, but missed it: when will I learn to fish one rod at a time?. Had a chat with David from the big house on the way out, nice to see him out and about on a foul morning – mad as a box of frogs but one of life’s characters.

Batting average for the year: 31 trips and 98 fish of which 17 needed the net, so 3 fish per trip and the net used every other session. Highlights, an Everton Grange tench of 5lb 12ozs, carp to 9lb 8ozs, two chub to 3lb 12ozs from the Mill Stream and a sea trout and 3lb 8oz mullet from the Tidal Stour. Probably pretty dull to many anglers, but not too shabby for me!

Good luck one and all in 2007 and why not make 2007 the yaer you put a post on this site?
