Hi,

I have just joined RDAA and was wondering what Throop Mill Pond was like these days?....I haven't fished there in over 15 years...are there any sizeable carp/tench/bream?

Many thanks

Will

Sorry, Will I've not fished Throop at all in the last 3-4 years and have never fished the Mill Pond.  My instinct is that, especially at times like this when the main river is high, it has to be worth a go.   I jog and cycle past the Mill Pond now and again and for sure, quite a few anglers think it is worth a try, because it is rarely unoccupied.  Quite a few are pikers, but where there are pike ...

Hi Will

I haven't fished the Mill pond for a year.  But it is a good spot when the main river is in full flood, also the tributary in from the main river can be quite good.

Last time I fished it was on the Mill side of the pond and there was some aggressive horses there.  If they're around I'd fish the other side.  Mill pond can be particuarly good for bream & pike.

About 12 pike rods in the water today (Saturday 12/01/08) as I cycled by: that's too crowded for me.

Thanks for the replies!...I actually popped down Throop Millpond last week, not to fish, just to have a look and see how its been fishing.  I met a very helpful chap who was down there fishing for pike.  He had caught 2, both just over the 10lb mark but he said a chap had caught a 16lb & 19lb pike the day before.

I'm not really into Pike fishing myself but as the rivers are so flooded at the moment I could be tempted to give the Millpond a crack for a big pike.

Regards

Will
