Throop Beat 2

We fished the Sunday afternoon, at the end of a fairly blustery, though dry weekend at Throop Fisheries beat 2.  Having spotted a good looking swim yesterday we decided to check to see if it was free today.

We were in luck, although we could not see any fish it had some hallmarks of a good River Stour swim, clear stretches, weed and reeds, as the shot below shows.

Pete fished the luncheon meat near the reeds, and I went to the edge of the weed.  Pete had only cast out about a minute or two, when the alarm went bleeping and the line reeled out.  Unfortunately the culprit was not a fish, but an eel of about 1 1/2lbs.

On the plus side it was a fish, having blanked for a long while.  Things were perhaps going to be ok.  Then around 6pm just after two guys had walked by joking the swim looked great but there were no fish to be seen Pete's line again was taken resulting in a great 5 1/2lb Chub
