Turf Croft Farm 12-6.30pm

Well it was getting close to the threat of not catching a fish in the close season, so I decided to try a different local lake.  This time the lake at Turf Croft Farm.

The lake was not as busy as it sometimes can be at this time of year, but we checked before by phoning in advance to make sure.

The weather was great, and the lake looked really nice with all the Rhodadendrums out in flower.

We fished here with Pete on pellets and me on Strawberry luncheon meat.  We fished the nearside of the nearest island to the entrance.

Then it started.  Pete caught a 7lb ghost, then a 8lb mirror, then a 7lb mirror and finally a 9lb mirror carp.  And what had I had, yep you guessed it - nought.  Despite switching to the same bait as him after the second fish.

Finally though after he retired, saying his arm ached with the reeling in and generally being annoying, I cast into his spot and landed with 15 mins to go the biggest fish of the day. A 10lb Ghost Carp.

He how laughs last....
