Pipe Bridge at Throop

Pete and I fished the Pipe Bridge swim on a bright and sunny August afternoon in the middle of a record breaking heat wave in Britain.

We had earlier decided that our lack of success with fish recently was down to the fact that we had not been able to get any Halibut pellets, which had worked so well last year.  So we tracked down some Richworth Halibut Pellets in the Bournemouth Fishing Lodge yesterday, and today was the first test.

The test proved to be a resounding success as after a series of minor knocks and runs on the two hair rigged pellet rigs, my rod finally set of with a scream of the bite alarm.  After a 20 minute fight with a fish that made several runs both up and down stream I landed a barbel of just under 11lbs in weight.  What a day !
